December Showroom and Year End Thoughts...

With Christmas literally right around the corner (only 5 more sleeps...) our office is slowing down, especially since this week is spent buying those last minute gifts (myself included), getting together with family and friends, or jetting off across town and country to spend the holidays with those special to us. Corporate events finished last week, and no weddings are on the books until January, we are finally finding the time to sort through that pile of paper that has stacked up on our desks, and tend to minor details that seem to get pushed aside month after month. I can't believe 2011 is only weeks away, weren't we just in the middle of the Olympics?

Having a talented team of decor gurus on speed dial has had its benefits, and because of them, our showroom hasn't looked more festive! I will admit, Christmas came early to our showroom - yes, the tree was decked out and glowing a week before December began - but we had some entertaining to do, and who doesn't like all those sparkling lights and glitter floating in the air? Thanks to Debut Event Design who made this all possible:

Shades of jewel and royal purple, eggplant and gold decked our halls!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
Thank you for a wonderful 2010, we can't wait to work with you come 2011.
See you in the New Year!

November Showroom

So my new favorite colors, may not be yours, but I can't help but put a little 'pop' into November. Using two of the Fall 2010 trend colors, I have created a little oasis in our showroom window.

Lagoon, which is by far the most calming shade of turquoise, creates the feeling of jetting away, spending winter somewhere else, perhaps a Mexican destination wedding, and of course lots of margaritas. Lipstick Red, adds that quirky punch of color that makes the whole calming affect come alive. Red has always been a holiday accent color, however it is also the color of love, and of Fall, so don't be afraid to use hints of it around your event- no matter what season it is- to jazz things up a little.

Pictured here is our Lichen tablecloth, Red Satin napkins, Red Organza sashes and White Bella chair covers.

Now that I think of it, this color scheme could totally work for a chic holiday party, or even a candlelight Valentine's dinner. The versatility of this color pairing is endless!

To add just a hint more drama, think about reversing the color scheme and add hints of Lagoon to your party decor. Our Red Satin definitely adds drama, and the Tiffany Satin sash helps to tie in the theme.

Available for rent:
-Red Satin: Hugs, Napkins, 120", 132" and 90x156"
-Lichen linen (reversible, other side has hints of coral and gold): 126", 132", 90x156" and Napkins
-Bella chair covers: Ivory and White, also available in a larger size in both colors
-Organza sashes: many colors, including Red
-Satin sashes: many colors, including Tiffany

2010 Fall Color Trends

As our calendars are slowly filling back up with appointments and consultations for next year, however we still have clients dropping in last minute to prepare orders for this year. So I thought I would take the time to find the season's hottest, newest color trends and pairings. This way, we can make sure these last minute designs are on top of the latest trends, a little fashion forward don't you think?

Pantone, the best place to stay up to date with all the latest colors developed, also gives you access to each season's colors straight from the world's runways. Fall 2010's color spectrum comes straight from the designers themselves, during New York Fashion Week, February 11-18 2010.

I will list the 10 colors and the word that best describes the feeling these colors project. The group as a whole has been described as vivid, innovative takes on fundamental basics. They instill feelings of travel and adventure.

Endive ~ Revitalizing
Golden Glow ~ Earthy Sunset
Living Coral ~ Inviting, Soft
Lipstick Red ~ Sensual
Purple Orchid ~ Unexpected, Magical
Chocolate Truffle ~ Elegance, Rich
**Lagoon ~ Escape
Woodbine ~ Neutral Green, Modern Avocado
Oyster Grey ~ Classic Neutral
Rose Dust ~ Romantic, Ethereal

**Lagoon is the 2010 color of the year for Pantone. Think Tiffany Blue meets Turquoise meets Mexican Riviera with a hint of sunshine. To see these colors, click here.

Come in today to see what linens we have that match these color trends. Your event can be fashion forward and cutting edge, just add a few splashes of seasonal trends and your rocking!

CSEME 2010 Theme Table Challenge: Halloween

I know I have said this before, but Chair Decor linens are not just for all things pretty! We have a variety of different fabrics and colors to match any theme!

When CSEME West approached Nicole from Northwestern Event Studio, she was a little adamant to pull off not 1, but 5 Halloween theme tables in only 2 days! With help from Chair Decor, Nicole rose to the challenge and used her wealth of knowledge, and extensive prop collection to put together 5 amazing-scare worthy tables.

Nicole was asked to lead the design challenge for the attending delegates. By keeping the theme a surprise until the whistle blew, the delegates had no idea what lay before them, and only found out when they opened their team's box. Each team's box was labeled with the themed result, one of: Witches Brew, Vampire Saga, Medieval Feast, Davey Jones' Locker or Dungeon Dinner. Here are a few snapshots of what was created this past week at the CSEME West!

Witches Brew is perfect for that intimate gathering of dark art followers:

Do you think Edward would dine with me? A Vampire Saga:

The Medieval Feast was so tasty it was to die for...

My favorite table was Davey Jones' Locker:

And the last table was the Dungeon Dinner:

Thank you Nicole for making our linens look so ghoulish! Great job

October Showroom

When one thinks of October, many think of Halloween, treats and pumpkins. But Fall is just so much more than that. This season in Vancouver is full of crisp mornings, red and gold leaves, misty mountains and hot apple cider. Every October the UBC Botanical Garden holds it annual Apple Festival. This year it ran October 16th & 17th. The festival is fun for all ages, featuring apple tasting- apples from all over the world, apple treats, apple games and of course the opportunity to buy bags of apples for eating and baking. A tradition for my boyfriend and I, it helps to get us into the Fall spirit, gets us outdoors and of course a cheesecake caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!

So, October's showroom is inspired by the crisp crunch of apples and the cool feeling of Botanical gardens in the Fall.

Adorning the chairs are our Spanish Moss chair wraps. The table linen is the always fab Ultra Satin in Champagne. This linen is available in 120", 132", 90x156" and matching napkins.

Table top design includes Spanish Moss napkins, ivory pillar candles, cream rose petals and crisp Granny Smith apples. These elements bring in the soft side of Fall, and embody a romantic getaway. Consider adding a more vibrant punch of color to this scheme with the Spanish Moss linen on head tables, cocktail tables and cake tables. Our high-boy cocktail table is topped off with an antique candelabra (from Debut Event Design) and a rose globe floral arrangement. Candle light is the best way to add romance and soft light to your event.

Our Spanish Moss linen is available in 126", 132" and 90x156".

Catching Up...

Since August, life at Chair Decor has been super busy. We have had a record month full of wedding bliss and a few corporate events sprinkled in. I enjoy updating our blog and coming up with fun topics/themes to discuss. But I have let my duties slip over the last 2 months, due to the sheer volume of orders and installs that have taken place. Alas! I am back into my routine and hope to catch up on a few things I wanted to post.

Looking back at September...
Our showroom for the month of September was inspired by some of Fall's hottest new color trends- Chocolate and Mango. Instead of using food as my inspiration (which is really hard to do because I love thinking of and eating so many delicious treats), I looked to nature. The Monarch butterfly, as common as it is here in Vancouver, it's markings and colors are not. Perfectly fitting my monthly color theme, the Monarch's wings are patterned in shades of tangerine, mango, melon and pumpkin, with hints of cream, chocolate and espresso.

So to honor this majestic creature, I pulled matching linen to complement this theme. Using our Creme Brulee Triple Pintuck linen, I was able to get a pretty close color match-even the hint of gold! A Chocolate Satin runner adorns the centre of the table, and Chocolate Satin chair wraps finish the look, with matching Chocolate Satin napkins.

Working with this theme, our high-boy cocktail round was set in opposite colors. Using Chocolate Satin as the base, we placed a simple Tangerine Taffeta sash down the centre as a runner. I used to have a brown willow branch wreath with a monarch butterfly perched on the side, in the centre of this table, however, Hazel of Barwick designs moved out in September :( and took with her all her fabulous decor goodies-we will miss you Hazel! I had also used the butterflies as place holders for my guest table setup. Just to show how busy we were for the month of September, these showroom photos weren't taken until October when I was about to change the table decor. Excuses, I know...

Latest Trends

Eggplant. 2010's most sought after color.

Why? Because it's rich color wraps you in regal bliss and sends you dreaming of your happily ever after.

This season, many shades and hues of purple have been dancing in our bride's heads. Everyday we get at least one phone inquiry as to what stock we have available in eggplant. With our newest arrival- Eggplant Sparkle- to our premium collection, we have had even more interest in this color palate for weddings. Even though it is only a month old, the Eggplant Sparkle has been the center of attention at more than 5 weddings thus far. This regal color stands strong on it's own, but paired with others it brings a more romantic feel.

Eggplant and other shades of purple are best paired with white, silver, soft pink, grey, and butter yellow for the summer months; this allows you to play lighter, softer with your color palette and really play up that Victorian  romance. For the Winter and Fall, purple's favorite pairs are chocolate, silver, and jet black. These colors play to purple's rich side, bring warmth and comfort to your special day.

Due to it's immense popularity, I though I would take the time and put together a little photo shoot of all the purple linens and decor items we have in stock. This way, you can feast on this decadent array of eggplant, lilac and plum linens, perfect for any occasion!
